Filipino students qualify in the 2019 HIPPO finals

Four Filipino students are still in the competition after clocking up the required scores making them qualifiers of the final round of the Hippo 2019 7th International Competition English Language, English Without Borders which will be held in Lido di Jesolo (VE), Italy on May 11 and 12, 2019.

From more than two hundred Filipino participants in the semi-final round, only four came out on top to be with the world’s best in English. They are Graciela Gonzales from Southville International School and Colleges (Little Hippo), Raianna Amihan Carandang from Immaculate Heart of Mary College – Paranaque (Hippo 1), Princess Bianca Angela Cimatu Angfrom St. Jude Catholic School (Hippo 2), and Cassey Jules Uycongco from Huang Siong College of Iloilo (Hippo 3).

Mrs. Snezana Mitrovic, International Coordinator of the Hippo Team, congratulated our Filipino students. Mitrovic said that there were a total of 36,000 students participated in this year’s edition, which could say enough of how spectacularly they performed in the tests.

Last year, Gia Cerise Sansaet, grade 7, from PAREF Woodrose School ended the competition with flying colors, giving the Philippines the first silver medal from the English Without Borders.

The HIPPO 2019 is expected to draw participants from Albania, Angola, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Macedonia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam
