The Global Hippo Association disclosed the names of students who are invited to participate in the semi-final round of the HIPPO 2019 “English without Borders” 7th International English Language Olympiad to be conducted in selected MTG training centers at 9AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019.
The 219 participants in Little Hippo and Hippo levels I, II, and IV obtaining perfect scores and a point below the full mark are considered semi-finalists and are invited to the semi-final round.
The exam level for the semi-final round will be one CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level higher than the one in the preliminary round. The tests for the semi-final round of the competition will consist of: a reading test, a writing test, and an essay. There is only one correct answer to every question. There are no negative marks. The ranking is based on the average number of marks achieved on both the reading and the writing test.
The writing test will consist of a free-writing task (100 – 200 words depending on the category) and 30 questions. The essay will be assessed only in case two or more candidates have the scores on both the reading and the writing test.
The final round of the competition will be held in Lido di Jesolo, Italy, on May 11 – 12, 2019 and the participants will most likely come from these 27 countries: Albania, Angola, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Macedonia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
