2010 ICAS-English is back at 8:30 am, August 21, 2010
Please be informed that the 2010 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) will go on as scheduled on August 21, 2010. However, since it is a holiday, the time has been moved to its original schedule which is 8:30 in the morning and NOT anymore at 2:00 in the afternoon. The change in time is due to the public request especially from the school administrators and teachers, parents and participants from distant places.
Furthermore, participants are advised to be at the contest venue before the competition starts at 8:30 in the morning. They are requested to remember of the following reminders:
1. Be in complete school uniform and ID;
2. Bring pencils preferably 2B or B (NOT pen)
3. Mobile phones, pagers, and other personal electronic devices are not permitted; and
4. Dictionaries are NOT permitted.
2010 ICAS English will go as scheduled on August 21
Please be informed that the 2010 International Competitions and Assessment for Schools will go on as scheduled on Saturday, August 21, 2010. Despite the fact it is proclaimed a holiday, yet the competition is conducted simultaneously on the same date worldwide.
Participants are advised to be at the contest venue before the competition starts at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. They are requested to remember of the following reminders:
1. Be in complete school uniform and ID;
2. Bring pencils preferably 2B or B (NOT pen)
3. Mobile phones, pagers, and other personal electronic devices are not permitted; and
4. Dictionaries are NOT permitted.
Furthermore, the participants of the Colegio San Agustin-Makati have been assigned in Grace Christian College for the 2010 ICAS-English and NOT in Colegio San Agustin-Biñan as previously announced.

Advisory on ICAS Math
The ICAS Math will go on as scheduled on August 7 at designated contest venues across the country. However, those participants who have a conflict with the UPCAT which will also be administered on the same date and time as the ICAS Math, then a special consideration is given to them. Thus, all participants who cannot take the ICAS Math in the morning may take it at 2 PM August 7, 2010 at Arellano University.
For provincial participants, please coordinate with your center coordinators.
Furthermore, all ICAS Math participants are advised to pencils preferably 2B or B.

Close to 1000 Pinoy kids join the ICAS-English 2010
The University of New South Wales Educational Assessment Australia (EAA) through the MTG, Philippines will be conducting the 2010 International Competitions and Assessment for Schools (ICAS)-English on August 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in various venues across the country.
The ICAS – English assesses reading and language skills in a range of contexts. The following aspects of texts are assessed and reported: reading for meaning in literary texts, reading for meaning in factual texts, textual devices, syntax and vocabulary. The questions require students to locate, identify, interpret, infer and synthesize information in and about texts.
Students read a variety of texts which narrate, describe, explain, argue, persuade and review. The types of texts include extracts from novels, short stories, poems, play scripts, transcripts of interviews, letters, diary entries, advertisements, webpages, reports and explanations, opinion pieces and reviews. These texts may include tables, diagrams, maps and other visual information.
This year, a close to 1000 Filipino students from 44 schools nationwide will join the thousand other contestants in the world who will simultaneously take part in the said competition.

ICAS English is moved at 2pm on August 21, 2010
Please be informed that the ICAS English will be conducted at 2 o’clock in the afternoon of August 21, 2010 to give way to majority of the participants who will be attending the first training of the 12-Saturday training sessions of the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, Philippines.
Important Reminders for ICAS Math participants
All participants are reminded of the following important requirements:
1. Be in the contest venue at least one (1) hour before the contest time at 8:30 a.m. for the registration;
2. Be in complete school uniform and ID;
3. Bring pencils preferably 2B or B and eraser;
4. Mobile phones, pagers and other personal electronic devices are not permitted;
5. A ruler is allowed;
6. Papers A, B, C, D and E are not allowed a calculator;
7. Papers F, G, H, I and J require a permitted calculator;
Calculators that are not permitted are:
- Graphic calculators
- Programmable calculators – any calculators that can store a sequence of operations to be executed automatically.
Blank paper may be used for any working.
